What is the main goal of Trent View Counselling Centre?

Our goal is to offer a holistic and normalizing approach to the treatment of trauma and all related mental health issues. We aim to apply progressive evidence based treatment that accepts the individual and unique needs of all individuals.

What can you treat or help with?

We can help clients with Anxiety, Depression, relationship issues, stress, ADHD, PTSD, Childhood Trauma, Adult Trauma, Complex Trauma, OCD, Grief issues, Traumatic Brain Injury, Concussions, Personality Disorders, Substance abuse and addiction.

Do you work with Veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces?

Yes. We have worked extensively with veterans and serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces since we opened in 2009.

Are you accepting new clients?

Yes. We are accepting new psychotherapy clients! Click here to book your first appointment.

What type of therapy do you practice?

Treatment is tailored to each individual client’s needs and goals. In general, our therapists offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Process Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, as well as other psychotherapy modalities.

How do I get started with treatment?

If you are ready to start treatment, please feel free to contact the office via phone, e-mail or click the “Contact Us” button. We will begin with an intake session where your therapist will take the time to get to know you and your goals for counselling. Together you will work to create a treatment plan that works for both of you.

If you are unsure if therapy is right for you, or if you’d like to see if you and your therapist are a good fit, we offer free video consultation appointments.

Do I need a referral from my family doctor?

A referral is not required to begin treatment with, however some insurance companies require a prescription before submitting a claim.

How much do your services cost?

Our fees for psychological services correspond with the Ontario Psychological Association (OPA) guidelines. The cost for each session is noted in the description for our therapists utilizing our online booking feature. Please get in touch with our office for specific details of other therapists and our other services.

As of January 1, 2024, all psychotherapist services are HST-exempt. See Bill C-59 (44-1) for details.

Are your services covered under my extended health insurance?

Psychology and Psychotherapy services can often be funded through extended health insurance plans, please check with your provider for details. We also accept clients covered via Veteran’s Affairs Canada (VAC).

Are you covered under OHIP?

Unfortunately our services are not covered under OHIP.

Can you direct bill my insurance company?

For veterans we are able to direct bill Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) / Medavie Blue Cross.

What type of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, credit, debit, or e-Transfer payments. You can also set up automatic payments on your account. Payment is due at the end of each session. For e-transfers, please send payment to payment@trentviewcounselling.ca. If paying by cash, please bring the correct amount as we do not keep cash on site to provide change.

A bill will be issued for all services. A receipt will be provided for all payments.

When did Trent View Counselling Centre open?

Trent View Counselling Centre opened in 2009.

How has the Centre changed and evolved over the years?

Trent View Counselling Centre began with a focus on traditional talk therapy and evolved to include the ability to offer a more holistic and complete approach through multiple disciplines that include services to address physical health, improved mind-body awareness and mindfulness.

Do you accept students for practicum placement?

Unfortunately we are not accepting students for practicum placement.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

We do not offer a sliding scale.

Where are you located?

We are located at 45 Front St, Suite 201 in Trenton Ontario. If you park in the Quinte West Farmer’s Market parking lot, our entrance is at the south end of the lot to the left of the “Grind and Vine”. Head through the door and up the stairs.

Do you offer online counselling?

Yes, we offer secure video sessions through our practice management software. You don’t need to live in the area to access our services and you don’t have to miss an appointment if you go out of town.
